COURSE FOR DIRECTORS

This is a course for directors and writers. It seeks to demystify and explain through exercises, improvisations, and scenes ways to evoke truthful and exciting performances. For the director, it should provide an experience that will give them invaluable insight into how actors actually work and help them to connect and communicate meaningfully with actors. For the writer, it should give them a deeper understanding of the creative value of finding the true events of the script beyond and below the printed text. Techniques used: Lee Strasbourg & Sandy Maisner & Stella Adler

Welcome to the cinema camp “Welcome to the Anthropocene”

Anthropocene is the subject of this year’s Cinema Camp as well as the geological epoch upon which the planet has recently entered. It is a new page in the history of our planet, characterized by unlimited exploitation of the Earth for the purposes of mankind, and by the fact that human activity has reached the scale of natural cataclysm itself.

Reacting to ecological and political situation of today, this year’s Cinema Camp invites to reflect the connection between the planet and the human in the era in Anthropocene, and to discuss topics such as film ecology, cinematic representation of nature and animal lifes, as well as animality of the film medium itself.

Let‘s watch films and involve ourselves into discussion with filmmakers such as Denis Côté (Canada, https://vimeo.com/deniscotecinema) and Ben Rivers (U.K., http://www.benrivers.com/ ), among many other guests.

Traditionally, the Cinema Camp will be held during the last weekend of July (27-30). This year it will take place in the “Valley of Innovators“, Antalieptė, Region of Zarasai, Lithuania.

The Cinema Camp is an informal gathering and discussion space for filmmakers, film critics, theoreticians, students and cinema goers. The previous Camps explored following themes: “Road Movie”, “Film and Freedom“, “Film and History“, “Film and Sound“, “Movie and Body“, “Cinema and Politics“, “Kino-Eye“.
